Profile: David Palmer

David Palmer is a fictional President of the United States played by Dennis Haysbert for five seasons of the hit television series, 24. He suffered quite a number of assassination attempts, before succumbing to a sniper's bullet in the opening of the fifth season.

Palmer served as the show's second-most prominent protagonist, after Jack Bauer. Throughout the series, Palmer's ex-wife Sherry and brother Wayne were both key figures in his administration. He had two children: a son, Keith, and a daughter, Nicole.

Palmer belonged to the Democratic Party, and was said to have a Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from Georgetown University. Prior to his presidency, he served as a Congressman and Senator from Maryland.
